Absolutely love this web site! We purchased our first Jack 3 years ago this November, and are totally smitten! Her name is Sugerbaby, and she is a smooth haired beauty that looks almost identical to Jim Careys dog Milo in the movie MASK. We are currently looking for a husband for her so that we may keep one of her pups. These are the smartest dogs I have ever been around in my life, and we have decided that no other dogs will do. Sugarbaby is a true hunter and look out when she goes to the deer lease with us because there's no stopping her! Keep up the great web site, we love it!

We were given a Jack Russell Terrier who was 4 months old. His name was Ivan. He was killed by a Greyhound dog when he slipped under the neighbors fence.... to play with him no doubt ... he loved other dogs. He was 1 month short of his first birthday. We have since gotten another puppy; Jack Russell terrier of course! His name is Vladameir. He is just 8 weeks old. We love him already. We still miss Ivan. He had the sweetest personality. You have a great web site!!
I'm glad to see we are not the only ones who love the Jacks.

Howdy!
My wife and I love our 11 month-old Jack - named Phoebe.
We are looking for a like-aged male as a companion and wondered if anyone knew of a Jack Russell Rescue in the Dallas, Texas area. We love Phoebe and would rather rescue an abandoned Jack. E-mail me with any info you have or if you have a Jack you wish to offer.

This is a great site! I have 2 Jack Russells, NessLee, 2 1/2 years old black & white and is expecting her first babies next week and the proud father, Harley, who is 1 1/2 years old brown and white. They are absolutely wonderful and unique little dogs. I almost lost NessLee when she was a pup when she chewed an antique phone cord and the wire was toxic. I'm not sure another breed could have made it. She is quite the hunter, also. Harley is wanting to learn to play flyball and has about got me talked into it.

Hi! I love your site and I buy your calendar for me and my mom every year. You might recognize my 3 yr old JRT, Piper, too. He's the Jack Russell in the three 1998 Purina "Chosen by Champions" ads, and is also on the 1998 Purina poster calendar. He's the most versatilely-titled JRT in history and was the #1 conformation dog of 1996 (UKC). Besides doing normal JRT things (go-to-ground, racing, swimming, flyball, agility), he also does obedience and therapy work and has some REALLY eclectic hobbies, like sheep-herding and carting. Stop by our site and check him out. He'd LOVE to be photographed in action for your next calendar!

I have a 1 1/2 year old Jack named Raider. He is the best little dog ever. I have a 7 month old son who loves him to death and Raider is very protective of his "baby". I'm glad they will be able to grow up together. He is a great watchdog too. I never have to worry about anyone when Raider is on patrol. Thank God for little Jack Russells.

We just love our JRT! His name is Riesling and he's 4 1/2.
He was from our first litter. I knew when I first saw him
that he was special. Unfortunately, his mom, Tribble proved
to be untrustworthy with our kids. She has gone on to a
great new home. Ries loves all the attention that our kids,
or any kids, shower on him and he rarely complains when
things get out of hand. These dogs are the best and we are
looking forward to getting Ries a girlfriend. By the way,
Ries loves to look at all the pictures of JRTs on the net!

our family for about a year. We live on a 1200 acre facilty

I recently rescued a 2 1/2 year old male JRT from our local pound/shelter ...
I named him 'JR' ... he is a typical JRT supper intelligent, aggressive with other dogs. We have become totaly attached to each other, he goes every where with me. I have lost 6lbs recently I think it's all the exercise I get with this little guy. JRT's are high maintenace dogs, but worth every minute. He must have had some obedience training he responds to voice and hand signals. He is in love with a lady PittBull named Lilly they meet in the park every day and play. He is a long legged smooth coat tri color
about 95 % white. these dogs are the greatest.. My only problem is my old Siamese cat Ralph, he has him pretty much terrifed. The only solution unfortunately, the only solution is to keep them apart ... any other suggestions would be welcomed.

I have a question for someone out there about my eleven week old male Jack Russel ... His ears were always bent over straight, until three days ago, when his right ear started to drop over to the right and not lay straight like the other one. I dont know if this is normal or something unusual. His appearance was very nice with both ears sitting straight. If anyone has any information as to what could have caused this, please e-mail me and let me know. Our dogs name is Rimshot. Thank you.

Hi, Thanks for a wonderful site. Here's how we became JRT fans. X-MAS was coming up and my daughter and I were out shopping. I asked her if another "Wishbone" stuffed animal was on her list, she said yes, but asked: "Daddy can I have the real one?" ... 2 weeks later my daughter got the real Wishbone. It will be 2 years this X-MAS that we have had Suzie. What a wonderful animal she is. I grew up with dogs all my life and the most intelligent and smarty-pants dog has got to be the JRT's!!! Thanks again.

This is a great site! We have a five year old JRT named Nellie, who was just bred for the second time this week to another great dog. She had her first litter three years ago. All her pups are just as sweet as she is and we have a waiting list for the new ones. I would never have any other breed of dog. I'm hooked.

Hi! - I love the site and I love my Jack's too! ... I bought Chivas (smooth-coat short-leg female), as soon as I moved into a house, and had room for her! Also, I had broken up with my boyfriend of 5 years at the time, and Chivas helped me through it!! Then, 2 years later I got engaged, but I should have known better b/c he failed the "Chivas test". (That means that not only does Chivas have to like him, but also he has to like Chivas!) When I smartened up, I bought Fergie - Chivas's younger sister! Thank God for them - they helped me through it! They listened to me, let me cry, and always told me I did the right thing!! Not only are these the most entertaining dogs - fun-loving and friendly- but they have been my constant companions and helped me through the rough times! Anyway, I hope the next time I'm in love it works, because I don't have room for another JRT!!!

I have recently acquired a JRT by the name of Animal. It is quite the fierce little beast. I only have three fingers on one hand because of her. My cat has to get a tail and whisker transplant because of "playtime" with Animal. But the thing is so darn cute I can't bear to give her away. Animal is very unusual in the way that she has 2 short legs and 2 long ones. The short ones on the right give her the terrible affiction of running in circles. The poor thing seems to overcome her vertigo pretty well.

Zena is a great dog and likes to dig for moles and gophers. Zena is a wonderful dog to have and is loving. She also loves her Dad especially since he got his gotee. She loves to rub her furry beak on his furry face. She is a white eye beauty who loves to do crazy dogger laps with the clap of the hands. Zena loves long walks in the moonlight and moonlight cruises on her yacyt. Zena likes to explore and find mysterious critters in the back yard...

We have a beautiful JRT named Lily Ann Russell (she was named after Lillian Russel, the movie star), and she is one of the best soccer players in Chico, California. She has also performed during the half-time for the Chico Rooks. She is the best juggler I've ever seen! Come to see the Rooks play in chico and you just might meet Lilly - The Soccer Dog! We love her very much and she is definately the baby of our family. This coming year we are planning on breeding her when we find just the right guy! We love your web site! We are a JRT soccer family.

We have 2 Jack Russells -- Maggie and Bailey. We love our girls and they bring us so much joy and laughter. Maggie is a few months older and a little better behaved as time has gone by. Don't get me wrong, she has her moments, but not as serious as Bailey. Bailey is another story. She is a 10 month old female, spayed, and though I adore her, she has chewed up the sofa, cushions, chairs, ottoman, tables, etc..I work and she stays in all day while I am gone. I need help on how to handle her and how to keep her from this destructive habit. Any suggestions on how to keep her from chewing up my furniture would be greatly appreciated. I need help ! I just got a cage for her and am slowly trying to get her used to it. I have put her in it gradually (only had the cage a few days now)for a few minutes more each time. She hates it and cries and it kills me. She knows she does wrong. Guilty eyes. Help me to understand why she does this and how to stop her.

We just bought a Jack Russell puppy her name is Katie. We had never seen or heard about this type of dog, and I went on the computer and found this website (which is very interesting), and I have already written to several people asking about this breed of dog. We have always owned Golden Retrievers, which are great family dogs. Our 10 year-old Retriever died this summer ... and this time, i wanted a lap dog ... she is quite different from our other dog. She is so small and lovable, and we are not having too much problems with her so far. She is l0 weeks old, and is getting the idea she needs to do her thing outside = she sometimes she'll get wild in the evening, and we are working on taming her down -- she loves to be rocked each nite ... we love her.

Hi. -- We're new to the Web, so imagine our delight when we found a site entirely dedicated to Jack Russels...
Our J-R is nearly 9 years old, and is called Molly. Naturally we call her Miss Molly, but a more apt name is: Princess Molly. She is a wonderful friend and is a true member of the family, although she would like to be the Boss. She has won many prizes in our local dog shows, although never for "quietest dog". Molly's photographs adorn our home made calendars. Must start next years soon. We look forward to visiting your site regularly.

Hi I have a Jack Russel Terrier Named Joey. He is a
totally awsome dog. Every one at the barn loves him.
He has a friend who is a cat and her name is Zulu. Zulu lives at home with Joey dog and is not allowed to go to the barn because she will run away but Joey
also has a cat friend at the barn named Shelly. He
thinks she is awsome and they chase each other up
and down the isle way in the big red barn. Joey is not
obnoxios and does a vast array of tricks that
Hera has taught him. If you would like to talk about
Joey and his adventures please Email. He has an 85%
coat color of dark brown and he also has a brown nose
if you have a Jack Russel like this also pleas E mail.
Joey came from California, and I recieved him from a horse
trainer of mine who could not controll him. But now he
is totally focused on his beloved ball. Five years of
staring at the ball is probably very common.

Never thought a dog could bring so much happiness into my life. I've always had different types of dogs while I was growing up, but no one as wonderful as Rossie... She recognizes all her toys by name, and her human grandmother - that spoils her with grapes and mushrooms. Thanks to Rossie, I have a reason to laugh most of the time. It is unbelievable how smart these dogs are! Rossie is the best dog in the world.

I enjoyed visting this website very much. It is my belief that JRT owners are also a breed of their own, and should be recognized for their outstanding commitment to such an active breed. I wouldn't trade my 7month-old Pennie (JRT) for the world. I truely believe JRT owners should be recognized as a breed of their own. all of us should be commended for the dedication we show to these little active terriers.

Hello, fellow Jack lovers.....
My husband & I have a tall male. His name is Hadjo Seminole. It means
'WILD & CRAZY' ... and you know, his name suits him all too well. He is a
rather large smooth-coat Jack, standing at about 16" tall. You might
say that he chose me as he jumped all around me until finally, I
picked him up and he kissed me all over my face. Well, he won my
heart and within 15 min. he had found his new mom. At 4 months we
almost lost him to parvo. He spent 13 days in the animal hospital.
God blessed us twice. Thank you for this site. It's good to know
we're not the only jack russell fanatics.

We found Jay Arrr when he was about 6 weeks old at our local shelter. He was there with his sister. They had both been just dropped off there in the middle of the night. We knew nothing about Jack Russell Terriors back then. We just knew they were the cutest friendliest little creatures we had ever seen.
We chose the boy and brought that cute little bundle home to our little farm and began the process of raising him. We bought lots of books on Jack Russells, read them all and began to wonder what we had gotten ourselves into. He was a charmer... even when you wanted to kill him for chewing up your favorite book or and important bill, you still had to love him with those sweet looks and quick "I love you" kisses.
About 2 months after we brought him home, we were back at the shelter looking for a kitten when we happened upon his sister back in the pen again. We asked why she was there and they said that the people who adopted her couldn't handle her because she was chewing things up in their house. We had to laugh. Remembering the box of styrofoam popcorn at Christmastime, the livingroom looking like a snow storm had hit it ... We could imagine what they had been through. What we couldn't understand was how they couldn't have been so in love with her that they couldn't live through all that Jack Russell puppy behavior.
Jay Arrr is now 1 year and 4 months old. I can't imagine life without Jay Arrr.... he is the most loving, endering, sweet, crazy wild man in the whole world. We call him Mister Stinky Boy as he has a fondness for chasing the black and white "kitties" that wander on to the property (as he did yesterday) and then getting sprayed. We also have a Border Collie, a Doberman/Dalmation mix and a Collie mix and all of them have learned about the black and white kitties that we don't chase anymore. But not Jay Arrr... what a silly boy! He hates those Mister Stinky Boy baths too. (Cause you usually have to have more than one!)
I love all our animals, but I love Jay Arrr best of all. He has created a special place in my heart just for him only. Jack Russell's are the best!

Hi.
I have just vistied your site (I think I must be about the only Scottish Person there!) We have an 11 month old JRT, short/smooth haired bitch called Tess (Langleys Tess), she is very intelligent, very noisy, very possessive of her humans, and a great little dog with a big heart to have around. She keeps the vermin down (infact we have'nt seen any for ages) in the stables, and barks at the horses if she thinks they are getting to boisterous. I would recommend this breed to people who have older children, and lots of space for these energetic whizz kids to run around ...
and, a post-note from Tess: -- "My breed expects 100% of your time - but we will give you back 500% in love - if you can stand the pace and the noise"
-- anyway, HI to all my overseas 'cousins'.

Jessie is 3 and 1/2 ... she is a broken-coat, and full of spirit. She lives at the beach and loves to chase jet skiis out into Long Island Sound ... once she and I had to be rescued by a hobiecat when I tried to catch her on one of her JET SKI PURSUITS ... we thought Jessie was unusual, but after reading the other notes... she sleeps under the covers.. after the alarm goes off in the morning. It's hard to rouse her in the morning.. but at night, she greets you at the door with a toy. She catches Frisbies... as long as you don't treat it like a trick... and has an up stairs and down stairs bed! She's a long legged puppy... only 14 lbs.... she looks like a runt compared to her contemporaries.. she may be the Allie McBeal of the Jack Russel World!

Hi fellow Jack Russell lovers. We were lucky enough to be given our first Jack Russel, a female we named Sassy, five years ago.
A longtime friend and Jack Russell breeder gave her to us. It was love at first sight! She is just like one of my daughters.
I've often said that I had two good children, and now I have Jack Russells! They are more demanding and controling than my children, but I think that I love them just as much. I now believe that Jack Russells are addictive. I now have one of Sassy's puppies, named LulaBelle. She is going to be the perineal puppy! What could be better? I hope that everyone else enjoys their Jack Russells as much as we do!
I want to thank my friend Debra Landrem for turning me on to Jack Russells.

We have a 2 year old JRT named Lazlo J. Wigglebutt. He is a Wishbone look-alike but much smarter! We are constantly amazed at his intelligence. We have to spell certain words around him. He is a co-pilot and proudly wears his wings on his collar. He has a flying friend named Jack and likes to romp in the park at the airport. He is a real communicator and uses his barks and paws to let us know what's on his mind. Recently he was stung by something and had an allergic reaction. The vet gave him Benedryl which brought him back from his 'Dog of Frankenstein'-like appearance. He goes everywhere with us--flying, camping, boating, and on long trips. He is a world class digger and squirrel chaser. He is truly a privileged member of the family!

My husband just bought me my first Jack Russell for my birthday, and of course neither of us had a clue about the breed ... he was just so adorable!!!! Now I'm slowly learning and loving every minute of his presence. His name is Bailey, and he's the light of my life, other than our cocker/retreiver mix dog! If any one has info to share with me, it would be greatly appreciated!

I have the cutest 14 week old female JRT.
But ... I keep hearing horror stories. We have started to persue a trainer, to get a start on her behavior. She is very smart, and responds well to training. Do I need to be worried when she is a year old, will she try to destroy everything in her path?
Any suggestions?

We have a 2 yr old Jack Russell named Jack... he is the greatest. So much company for me. We have him totally spoiled he thinks he is human. About the only problem we have with him is leading. When he is outside he goes crazy, wanting to sniff and chase everything. He has never been off a leash outside. I can not get him to walk normally on a leash ... any suggestions? I plan on replacing him with another JRT if anything every happens to him. We have a cat, and had a 12 year old toy poodle, that he gets along with very well.

His name is Rimshot, and he has given us so much joy. It is Lory's
first animal in her life, and never dreamed she could love an animal this much.
We just want everyone to know how much Rimshot has changed our lives.

This is a great site. I've signed the guest book before, and also had the chance
to post a question--- to which we have received several possible answers to our question!
We appreciate any information, that all Jack Russell Terrier owners have to offer.
We love our ball of energy very much. He keeps us going night and day.
I have more questions that I hope someone may be able to answer ...
1. Do all terriers like to chew and bite while they are puppies?
2. Do they all get an out burst of energy all of a sudden and run wild?
3. Our dog also likes to eat everything he can get in his mouth. He loves tissues.

We have four (4) Russells'. Two brothers from Virginia, and
two rescued females (one had only an hour to live!) They are
all about the same age. The two females do not get along
at all (much to the chagrin of the JRTCA) so we just split
them between us. I have a boy & girl, and my husband has a
boy & girl. They are all equally spoiled, excercised, taken
for rides, walks, and loved very much. They have to be
seperated in pairs and all get time with mommy and daddy.
Will never have another breed. My husband hated dogs until
a little Russell named Rosiland came into his life and
broke his heart forever when she passed away. We would
probably have 10 more if the ones we have all got along, but
I am just thankful for the ones we have. Never a dull moment, always a laugh, always noisy, always a door to open/
close. Wouldn't have it any other way. Love your products
and can't wait for your catalog every year. Keep up the good work with the rescues'. God bless.

I am the proud but occasionally frustrated and desperate owner of three JRT's: Dexter "of Goforth," Brigida Gertrudis "of Goforth," sometimes known as Bridgy, Bridger, or Toodie; also Rowena "of Goforth," who is the 18 mo. old daughter of the two above. I love them. What more can I say (other than that I am more than possibly a masochist}. Dexter has the most soulfull eyes, is so affectionate he is irresistable as a friend. Dexter (rough coated) travelled with me throughout Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New México and Arizona, camping out the entire time on through Ocotober snow storms. We had some times! His wife, Brigida, is from the McCoys in Northern Calif. She is broken-coated\smooth, and is quite dear and obedient. Rowena is, frankly, exasperating, but very endearing. She looks like Dad and loves to kill toys and moccasins. I truly love my dogs. Please write if you feel so inclined.

I have three JRTs. Knickers, Bishop and Madeline. Nix is the mother of these two 5.5 month old babies. She is the only three legged little JRT that we know of but would like to hear from any others. She is a rough coat with butterscotch markings on her eyes and one ear. Madeline looks just like her, but Bishop is a smooth coat all white with one brown ear. So cute. We are considering breeding Nix again next summer, (only purebreds) and are looking for potential parents/humans who would love to add to their clan. I have the pedigrees etc. JRTs rule the world.

My wife bought me what I wanted for Christmas 2 years ago-
a Jack Russell Terrier. Her name is Jackie and she just turned 2 on October 26. She constantly has us laughing.
She loves to watch TV, just waiting for an animal to appear so she can chase it across the screen, then licks the screen. She also has this thing about chasing shadows and reflections of light. She also thinks she's a cat in that she has hunted and caught and killed mice that have gotten into the house. She's the smartest dog I have ever had or seen. If anyone has a JRT that loves to chase shadows or go nuts over reflections of light, let us know. Then we'll know that she's a normal JRT.

Wow what a great web site. I have a 19month old Jack Russell called "Sainly" . He is the best companion. Sainlty and I go to dog training every weekend for 2 hours. A lot of people say that they are hard to train. Yes, they do have very short attention spans but he really enjoys learning new things. He's a two year old short hair with tan and black markings and a white "target" around his nose. He is a "people" dog and has to be in the same room we are. Just wanted to tell you about what a miraculous experience I had with my Jack Russell. Recently I got a Jack Russell Terrier and named him Turbo. He is truely a special dog. He's 12 weeks old today (Dec.7, 1998). When I got the dog I bought a huge fence to put him in but he of course will not stay there so since I live in the country I figured that maybe he'd be OK unfenced although I started putting him in the garage so that he would not get into the road. Wednesday before Thanksgiving I was in such a hurry getting everything ready for Thanksgiving Day. Turbo and Horace my beagle were playing out in the yard that evening when my Mom called and I had to run out really fast to get something taken care of for her. Well Turbo and Horace happened to have followed me to the car. Turbo got under the wheel of my Tahoe and I ran right over the top of him. I was hysterical when I went inside to tell my husband that I had ran over Turbo he came out and picked him up and nursed him by running some cold water on him and trying to help him get his breath. Surely I thought that Turbo would die, but we rushed him to the Veteranarian and he was still at the office at around 6:30 PM. The Vet put him on oxygen and gave him a shot to keep him from going into shock. The Vet didn't really know whether Turbo would make it or not, but we told him to do what he could to save him. Well today Turbo is at home and he is walking again. His body favors the left side and when he walks he is sort of sideways, but I never would have thought Turbo would have survived at all. He looks as if he will make a full recovery with some time to heal. He is very special because he will be a constant reminder to me that I need to stop and take my time with life and realize that dogs just like people need attention. Don't overlook them for a second whether you're in a hurry or not.

Hi fellow Jack Russell lovers! I love these little dogs! I got my two dogs, Lucy and Meg, in South Africa 6 years ago and have been absolutely smitten with the breed! They are wonderful company and have traveled all over the world with me - currently they are making their home with me while we work in Islamabad, Pakistan! I am a JRT owner for life!

great site! My family is owned by 4 yo GRT named (fearless)Freddy. Our little man is impossible not to love and is by far the most intellegent animal we've ever met.Fred knows every family member by name-including grandparents. Sometimes it's hard to think of him as dog, if he had thumbs I bet he'd drive my car! We knew these dogs were brave but nothing prepares you to see them in action. They are absolutely fearless. When he sleeps in your lap he's a marshmallow but I have no doubt that he would risk everything to protect me or my family. A note to new owners-besides lots of love, attention, and exercise the best thing you can give your JRT is a firm understanding or STAY and COME. Do these things and you will earn yourself the best and most loyal friend you ever had.

Thanks for such a great JR site. I am a frequent visitor and also have all your calendars. Of course, I also have a JRT, a 9 year old female named MeMe who is, to quote Oprah Winfrey, "a little person with fur." MeMe and I send Holiday Greetings to all Jack Russell terriers and their people.

One day, I met Lilly. She is a beautiful 4-month old JRT. I fell in love with Lilly. Unfortunately, for me, her owner loves her too, and will not sale her to me. So, that's how I found this website. I started researching JRT's to find out if I would be a good parent. After reading your website, the deep-dark truth about JRT's, I have decided to become a JRT parent. I am awaiting my sweet Sophie who will be ready to live with me on 1/23/99, two days before my birthday. I feel like she was born just in time to be with me. What a wonderful website you have. I love the honesty and respect for this breed. You do them justice in finding good, loving parents. I will continue to visit often. I would also love to submit a photo of Sophie when she is ready to pose.

I have a four year old Jack Russell named "Daisy" and we are crazy about Daisy! Her favorite activity is playing ball -- she loves to push around a basketball outdoors, but indoors her favorite ball is a tennis ball. At last count we had 7 basketballs outside and about 6 tennis balls inside. We are true Jack Russell lovers -- whenever we see someone walking a Jack Russell we stop and talk to them and we also compare the various antics that our dogs go through. I will always be a Jack Russell owner. They have so much personality, I can't imagine owning any other breed!

I really enjoyed reading your web page. I have had my first
Jack Russell for five months now and I love her. I saw that
there was also another one on the web page that was named
Pheobe, which was what I decided to name mine. Her best friends
are an English Mastiff, Ripley who weighs about 160 pds. more than her and
a black lab, Cooper. Pheobe is a good friend to everyone and
my best friend in the world. If you have any information on
how I could handle having two I would love some advise. She
would love a boyfriend.

My jack is a 6-yr old little girl named Shaquille (like the basketball player). She goes everywhere with me, I own and operate a locksmith company and all my clients just thnk she's the greatest- and they're right! I took her to see the Christmas parade in our little town, I was afraid she'd be scared of the loud noises, wrong - she loved it, even tried to get in the police car!

I stumbled across your web page while searching for JRT rescue in my area. My owner is 4 yr. old, broken coat, spade female named Matilda. She is, by far, the most intelligent dog I've ever had the pleasure to care for. She is black and white and full of life. She truly believes she is the Queen of our home. Mattie was housebroken by 9 weeks and takes excellent care of our two children and even our cat. We have attempted to bring another female dog into our house without success. A friend suggested that perhaps a male dog would be more acceptable to Mattie. Any suggestions?? I thought a male rescue dog would be appropriate.
Love your site. It's now inn my "Favorites File!"
