Hi,
Love the Short leg JRT........

I have two JRTs - named Buster and Cooler. They're as different as night and day. Buster is a wiry, very outgoing dog, who likes to snack ... on birds and mice from our barn. Cooler is more of a housedog, who likes to have his bely rubbed by anyone who's around. They both will take on anything that comes into our yard - including our neighbor's Rottweiler! ... At first we were hesitant to get JRTs because we heard that they were strictly hunting dogs, and not really a family pet. After having Buster and Cooler for nine years now, we are Jack Russell Terrier owners for life. Buster is always on an adventure in the fields around our house or in our barn. He likes to try to talk to people. One time we had company and had to keep them in their kennel on our back porch. Everyone there that day swore that Buster said "I'm mad!" We are convinced that there could be no better companion in the world!

My family just loves our Jack Russell Terrier pup - Ellie. She is 1 year old, and is very playful. She loves to put on her sweater and go for a good walk outside. She is very dedicated to our family, and quite jealous of other dogs. She is a short haired dog, and her head is brown, with a brown stripe down her back ... and, she has white legs, with freckles. We've had other dogs, but nothing compares to this breed's wits and personality.

Our JRT, Brody, now 6 months old, is just the sweetest
pup alive. He thinks he can take on the world with a single bound. His companion, Manon, (she's half Jack, and half Corgie), are best of friends and have
been quite a handful. The amount of love they have to give is unending. My husband and I just adore them, and wish we could handle more.

I finally took the plunge, after a 2 year contemplation ... Dottie, !!, a 10-week old JRT is napping on my lap as I write!! I can already see, in just 2 days, that she will change my life forever!! She is very intelligent, already brings back anything I throw, makes a mistake once and doesn't repeat it (she ran into the patio screen she thought she had a doggie door in), and is definitely just like a little person. I know there will be trials, but I am willing to bet the joy will far outweigh those. It's great to join everyone out there at this site! Happy 1998!!

Our one year old Jack Russell, George, plays constantly with our wire haired fox terrier - Willie. George will drag Willie by the scruff of the neck around the tile floor. This usally start a game of tag around the pool. George also loves to play with my son's 3 miniture schnauzers. This is more entertaining than t.v.

Hi. I'm Jena. And I don't have a Jack Russell, but I'm dying to get one. I do have a dog named Sugar. She's part Chow, and part Cocker Spaniel, and I love her very much. I guess I'll get a Jack Russell when I grow up. Anyway, I really enjoy your WebSite ...

My 3 year old daughter fell in love with Wishbone, so we recently bought a J.R.. ... Brownie is now 6 months old, and spends most of his time playing with our Golden Retriever, Buster. He also loves fetching his ball and playing with the kids in our neighborhood. He has a great personality and we just love him!

I really enjoyed all the pictures and information at this site... I am the proud owner of a JRT. He's still a pup, at 4 months. Hes a shorthair, and solid white, with just a couple of faint tan freckles, and dark as night eyes. I think hes beautiful. Anyway, wanted to say that i really enjoyed the site.

I'm sure that my jackie Reb (naughty three-year-old) would like me to put his name on this page! His claims to fame include: a passion for swimming (even in winter), hurling flower pots (empty ones thank god!) off of his head, and hunting lizards, mice, birds - and anything that moves really. His crazy habits have me entranced, and I love him to bits. Can't wait to get another little mate, so I'll go doubly mad!

I love your web page, and the pictures are great! I have a 14 month old Jack Russell Terror!, and his name is: Woody - I call him my little Love Muffin! He is wonderful and loving, and, full of energy. He is spring-loaded and jet propelled! He has mellowed somewhat in recent months ... and actually acts like a normal dog ... takes naps, etc. The breed is wonderful, but people should be cautious when getting a Jack Russell ... they need LOTS of attention and exercise. Keeping a Jack Russell in the house all day is really unfair. Please keep any info coming. Thanks.

We have a beautiful JRT named Abbey. She is the "granddog" of the family, and is spoiled rotten. We love her very much, she is our baby. She has two homes. She resides at my home ... and, she is also at home at my fiance's parents house. She knows exactly where her toys are in both places ... and definitely knows how to get her way any where she goes. She has more enregy than I think is legal. We wouldn't trade Abbey for anything!

Wilf - the wonder JRT, joined our family a little over a month ago.
I had no idea of the impact that this bag of love would have on our house!
Every day is an adventure, and even the tricky moments, such as extracting
him from the trousers of a bemused Pizza delivery man, are illuminating.
Already walking confidently in his harness, ears up for all the good stuff,
Wilf (aka: Rocket Dog, Nutjob Neddy, and ... Sweetpea), and I are
looking forward to puppy pre-school very soon. The wet and dry noses at
my house are in for a grandtime!

We have a two year old Jack Russell named Kramer. Naturally anyone who has watched the show - Seinfeld, you'll understand how appropriate the name really is. He is a great source of entertainment and companionship. While they all share some common traits, they each have such unique characters. They are the most loving dogs I have ever known (and I was never much of a dog lover). One of his "notable" traits is his interest in storing things about the house. He raids the garbage cans ... and takes things into corners, and under beds, and of course into clean-laundry baskets. But hey, we love him...

I just love this website! So many of my friends think that I am crazy to love a "dog" this much! JRT's are not just "dogs"! I am the very proud owner of an almost 2 year old Jack Russell. His name is Monty, and he is the love of my life! He is long-legged, smooth coat, mostly white with a caramel colored mask. I picked him out of the litter when he was 2 hours old and visited him almost everyday until I could bring him home. (The breeder told me there is always at least one "mom" in each litter like me!). We take 3 mile walks each day for his exercise and mine; and we go to the beach a couple of times a month so he can really run free! He loves to ride in the car and he goes almost everywhere with me. He is quite spoiled! He has NEVER slept a night outside. Always burrowing down in the covers near my feet. When I wake up in the morning, his head is sharing my
pillow. He has learned many, many tricks and is always eager to please. I go back and forth about purchasing another one. I don't want to lose the tremendous bond we share.

Hi I'm Rocky, a German Shepard mix. Kim is my owner - who found me at at shelter 5 years ago ... and refused to leave without me. Well, I had a friend - Lady, who passed on a year ago, and that's when weird things started to happen. Kim's mom got her this fuzzy little thing named Rascal ... and well, I find out she's a Jack Russell ... so, I said ok to her moving in ... like, whats one more. I'll just have to share... WELL, just a few months after that, we got a call from Kim's boss (she breeds JRTs), and ... "I have a JRT here, by name of Angus ... needs a home ... the people are getting divorced ... and they want to get rid of the dog..." so like, Kim's mom, she says Yes, and now HE lives here too. And then ... about 5 months ago, we get another call ... some man "needs" to get rid of HIS JRT ... because it's nasty with his kids ... and well, we took-in Milo, and he's just a wonderful dog ... turned out the kids were abusing the dog, and THAT'S why he bit them! Well, Rascal, Angus, Milo, and I, are as happy as can be. Even though they think I'm some kind of a chew-toy ... but my mommy says thats because I'm big brother. Hey, now I'm big-brother Rocky! -- Hi... my name is Kim, Rocky and Milo's mom. My mother is Rascal, and Angus's mom, and we all live together on Long Island and these dogs are just great... I love their spunk. If it wasn't for them, my life would be so predictably boring, because they bring so much life to the house. These are really great dogs.

I have a 2 year old JRT right now. Her name is Sally. She has been brought up (as much as one can be) with a lot of cats ... and really enjoys terrierrising them. She doesn't understand cats that won't play! I think she's pregnant by the neighbors (not a JRT) dog. This will not happen again! ... I just found this page today, and am enjoying reading everyone's comments.

I just got a JRT four weeks ago ... I've had only large breed dogs before, and am so impressed with the intellegence of this little dog. I can't wait for what will come next. She was the easiest dog to house train. Can't believe it took me this long to give them a chance.

Puddin, (or "Devil Dog"), depending on the day!, is a short haired, short legged little lady (ha ha), who is seeking a male companion. She is 8 months old, and quite pretty. She is also a great "Chicken herder" ... she helps her owner bring in the chickens in the evenings. We are unable to locate a nice young man to go out with her or possibly mate her with. If anyone is trying to find a home for an un-neutered short haired, short legged male, please notify me immediately. Or if someone has a male that they would like to breed with Pudding, please contact me. I am hoping to populate this part of the country with a few more ... of this fantastic breed of dog. I use the term "dog" loosely, as they don't believe they are dogs... We have several horse people around here, and I believe I could interest them in this wonderful breed. Thank you in advance for any help you may offer.

I am not a JRT owner, but I do work with several, and they are excellent work partners. Falcor, my trusty friend, helps me when I drive in the herds of horses we have where I work. He keeps them all in line, and once in a while enjoys a ride on my horse's back. He stops all the horses from arguing in the barn. He is over all an exceptional animal. I had never had contact with these dogs, but after Falcor, when I am able, I will certainly purchase a JRT for myself.
Sincerely

I love this! It is great to see just how many people love Jack Russell Terriers
as much as I do! My family raises them for sale. We are very small producers -

I am amazed by the number of young JRT's written about in this guest book. We have enjoyed our nine-year-old Ashton (aka: Queenie, RooRoo, Peanut, and Princess), for the last eight years. She came to us as a one-year-old, and has been teaching us the JRR (Jack Russell Rules) since DayOne. We also have five-year-old Barkley (aka: Barky, B-man, Bark-O-Rama-Slamma-Jamma, and: BoBo). I cannot imagine owning another breed of dog. I love how they burrow under the covers with you; how they cock their heads when you talk to them; how they will play ball for hours ... but especially, how they love to be around you. They are the ultimate "pal". As with every stage so far, I look forward to when they are older and slower (Ashton already is a lot calmer than Barkley). I have read that because of their curiosity most JRT's don't make it to old age. I'd like to read more entries about older JTR's.

I just got my new computer ... and the first thing I looked for on the web was JRT's. I'm so excited that there IS so much here . I have 3 JRT's ... Zoee is my favorite - I got her at 6 wks. old, and she's 10 mos. now. She can catch a ball as fast as I throw it. She does the Boogy quite nicely too. I just got the other two recently ... Sissy and Scout, I will be breeding them soon. I also have a Cocker Spaniel - Scooter, who just can't keep up with them. He won't even chase the/ir ball anymore, can't get it before the JRT's do! i'll have my own web site up when the pups are here. Thanks, this is a place I'll be visiting a lot!

Louie, my favorite little jack russell, is too intelligent for his own good. When my husband and I are on the sofa together, Louie often gets jealous if he is left out. As usual, he knocked on the door, letting us know he had to go outside. As I got up to go outside ... he jumped in my spot on the sofa! Then he sat up and begged for attention. He tricked me. He did not even have to go outside (of course)....
These dogs are so SMART!....

My spoiled-rotten Spanky is a curious little "monster" ... after consuming the mini-blinds in the kitchen, he loves to watch WCW Wrestling with his "Daddy." No joke! He'll stare at the t.v. during the entire show (Although I know it's not healthy for his little mind). Spanky is seven and a half months old. Solid white, with a brown face, and two SPOTS on his back and tail. He lives on a farm with his friend (an Austrailian Cattle Dog) Petey. They chase their older Cattledog friend Peanut, chase the cows, bite at the horse, and bark at everything else that moves. Spanky is interested in "corresponding" with a girl doggy... She must be sweet, and spunky, (no drugs or smokers prefered); must like to chase mice, enjoy long walks in the country, like Country music, have brown eyes (and no fleas!), and must enjoy outdoor activities, hopefully including mud bathing in the creek, and riding in the front seat of a 1976 Ford pick-up. Please respond to this E-mail address ... promise a "dog-gone" good time!
LOVE, (The "Spankster") Spanky

Hi to all JRTlovers - who, like us, have found this website. We are controlled by three wonderful little dogs. The oldest, Drummer, has been with us since he was a puppy, and he is now 14 years old. Last year, he blew his knee ... when he was roaring around after his new puppy companion, the Artful Dodger (Dodger, for short). We also decided that Dodge will need a friend once Drummer goes to that great doggie wood in the sky... and, Star, a pretty white girl, with one spot on her right eye, came to us re-homed, and has fit in rather too well, as we now are the proud parents of five JRT puppies. Not to worry though, we already have homes for two of them, and they are only 1 week old. These "kids" have entertained our family for many years now, and I think the only real problem will be in letting any of the pups go!

A wonderful and informative page! ... You should have a "friends of the J-R" links page, unless you already do, and I just haven't found it yet !!... Wonderful pictures too.We have a great 7 1/2 mos old female Jack, named Oreo. She is right now "Grade 2" in obedience class. Her trainer wants to see us take her to trials... she is pretty darn good at both tricks and obedience....... so maybe we will give it a go. Come check out Her page at the Url address given below. And keep up the good work on both this page and all the RescueWork you are doing. I can imagine all the patience and the hard work you are going through. Thank you, Nicole.

Hello to all JRT fans! My husband and I just recently came under the ownership of a handsome male JRT named Jake. He is four and a half months old now. He is all white, with black and brown on his eyes and ears. Jake is definately the spoiled child in the family, and well behaved too! One of his best friends is a standard Schnauzer named Heidi, who is very patient with his "beard-biting" ways. He loves laying in big piles of warm clothes that we've just taken from the dryer, which makes folding them very hard; he fancies potato soup, and much to his dad's dismay, an occasional sip of beer as well.. Luckily, we live close to a small lake, so he can "expend" a great deal of his energy there, playfully lunging at the geese (He delights in making them panic). Jake doesn't sleep in bed with us all night, (he is crate trained), but we can always count on our little furry alarm clock ... to paw the side of the bed between 6 and 7 a.m., when we let him cuddle with us for a bit. After the initial trials and tribulations of training a puppy (torn carpet, shoes, etc.), we realize that our little JRT was the perfect addition to our family, and we love him very much. One thing is for sure: if you're going to be owned by a JRT, you must be energetic as well! (phewww!).

Your Web site is great! It's interesting to read other J-R stories. Our J-R, Mac, is 2 1/2, and very feisty. He is also extremely lovable. He has more personality than most people we know! He loves to play soccer and can dribble like nobody's business. He is short and stocky, beautiful, with the most adorable face you've ever seen. We wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. Would like to breed him just once, so that his wonderful personality could endure.

Hi - my fellow JRT fans/owners! ... I am enjoying my JRT, Biggles, who is 12 weeks old. He is quite a handful, but ever so loving and loyal already ... He is the smartest dog I have ever owned, and suprises me daily! Treats are his life! I think he would TRY to jump over the moon if it meant a treat! My boys really love him, and I think that my husband is getting quite attached (still doesn't care for the dog in our bed tho!). I am really loving these JRT web sites. This one is really nice. I plan to send a photo of Mr. Biggles, soon! ... maybe when I take him to Daytona Beach for the first time!

We have an 11 month old JRT named Bonnie. She has brown and white markings, and is as cute as a button. She could probably make Wishbone go out of business. Instead, she enjoyes playing with her many toys, barking at squirrels, and chewing on the baseboards around our house. We wouldn't trade her for anything in the world!

Our best friend's name is" Ace Ace Baby, and was born on June 4th, 1996. He is our first Jack Russell, and is the most special pet we have ever had. He is about 20 lbs, basic white, with one spot on his side. His head is tri colored, and he is smooth coated. All of the reports we read are very accurate about their active behavior, and about constantly needing attention ... every day he seems to have a new surprise for us. We love looking for pictures for them, do you have a special place where there are lots of pictures. Thanks. Ace and family

Hi! My name is Macy. I am 1 and 1/2 years old. I am a very active JRT. I also like to eat a lot, too. I would eat human food until I was sick to my stomach, but my humans won't let me. I like almost any type of human food, except maybe corn. I'm a little picky with my dog food ... I like Kibbles'n bits. I love to play fetch with my toys -- (that is, before I eat them!), and oh yeah, chewing on bones. My humans have a little human girl. She is 10 months old. She crawls on me, pulls my ears, pulls my tail, pulls my skin, and even pokes me in the eyes. But I love it all. I love it best though, when she hugs me. She would hug me all day if they'd let her. My humans sometimes lose their patience with my curiosity, but they still Love me. Well, tell all my cousins hello for me, from PA ...

Hello to all my fellow Parson Jack Russell's!! Despite having a very American name, I was born in Surrey, England. I'm currently living a relaxed life, on Fifth Avenue, in New York City, but I long for the summer months ... when I live on the beach. Luckily, the guy who feeds me and tells me to "roll-over", also likes to take me to Miami during the winter months (I have my own Frequent Flyer Account!) Ah, sunshine -- you should see me play with (then kill) all those lizards. But between you and me, I'd rather chase down a mouse, rat, or even the deer out on Fire Island during the summer. Anyway, I just want to wish you all well, and... Happy Hunting!

He (Tex) is a Smooth coat, with a brown mask, and brown biscuit on his left side... His son, TJ, also has a brown mask, with two brown bisquits on his left side. Great Website! We have a three year old male JRT named Sidney who is funny, smart, stubborn, slightly annoying sometimes, and adorable. His favorite food is popcorn; his favorite place to sleep is under the covers of our bed (highly illegal, but that doesn't stop him). He is tri-colored and about 11 or 12" high and 22 pounds. His best friend is his dog, Buddy, an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Sidney is our first JR, but I think won't be our last. We love him even if he ate every last pair of our shoes when he was a puppy AND peed all over the kids' room.

I have not had the opportunity to visit your website since this time last year and I am quite impressed with its quality. Super job by all contributors. My dog Russell is now 17 months old, and is a constant form of entertainment and wonder to me and everyone who knows him. I took him to his very first JRTCA Trial in July of 97 in Glen Mills, PA . It was a delight to see so many JR's in one place doing their thing (agility tests, "going to ground" and Russell racing ! -yee -ha!!). I met alot of very friendly folks and dogs and learned a great deal about the club and the different events to participate in at a trial. I strongly suggest that anyone who has a JR -young or old - get in touch with them and attend a trial with your dog- it is too much fun to miss.

My Jack Russell Maggie jsut went blind this weekend for no
apparent reason. I am heartbroken, and have cried for the last three days.
We will be taking her to a dog opthamologist tomorrow. I've done some
research and have found out about several eye conditions that affect this
breed of dog. Please - if you love your dog. Make sure that your vet
gives them a thorough eye exam at least once a year. Although our vet
did examine maggie's eyes. her illness was never caught. We hope that
there is a way to get her sight back. I will pay any amount of money to
make my dog see. These next few days I will have to make some
important decisions. Please pray for my Dog. God, let her see again!

We are the proud owners of one JRT named Cracker Jack (aka "Jackie"). We noticed in the guest book how many times someone mentioned their JRT "burrowing" under the covers at night to sleep by their feet. This is something Jackie does every night. He has been pure pleasure to us since we got him at 6 weeks old, a year ago. We really did not know anything about the breed except how cute they are. We were surprised at the boundless energy, and also boundless intelligence! Eventually we will want a wife for Jackie. That should really be a trip. We love him to pieces!!!

It is so great to hear about all the jack fans out there. Does everyone but us have bad jacks? Dixie Doo and Rocky are never bad or in trouble, Except when the stuffing comes out of the car seat, or when the wires come out of the electric blanket, or when the garbage can explodes. Sometimes the toilet paper spins off the roll all by itself. Would we have it any other way? Thanks, Slippery Rock, PA, USA

Hi! ... I am currently owned by 3!!! female Jackies. Fanci is soon to be 5, and is my first love! My parents bred her, so it's a family affair! She's medium brown and white, and is 14 & 1/4 inches tall! Molli and Triksi are her daughters from her 2nd litter. Molly is liver and white, about 12 inches tall, loves to back talk, and wrestle Fanci away from the ball! Triksi is tri-color, about 13 inches tall, and steals the ball while Molls holds Fanc back! Trikers is shy, my X abused her, but we're working hard to get over that! I am getting a female back from my first litter(Sera will be 2 soon), her owner, my brother, can't deal with her for some reason. Rehab work again! Great web site, I'll be back! First of all, it's nice to read about all the JRTs that have nice families. My wife and I just adopted a 2.5yr old JRT, and immediately he became part of our family (He shares 3.5 acres with our Golden (KC) and our mix (Bear). His name is Wishbone, and boy, this little guy is humerous. I do see him eyeing our canaries, which will be kept away from his eduring appetite for smaller critters... Nice web site, and thanks for the opportunity to share our story.

In April of 1997 I adopted my first JRT from a local animal shelter. Someone had tied her (QT) onto the shelter door and left her overnight. I found her 3 days later in a cage looking very frightened. She went home with me that day and I have never been unhappy with my decision to adopt her. I have a 6yr old Shelty (Chelsea) and a 5yr old Cocker Spaniel (Brittany) and they all get along. QT sleeps under the covers by my feet everynight and is the joy of my life. I will definetly have more JRT's in my lifetime. QT is a total JOY!

I invite you to join me in wishing a Happy 1st Birthday to my sweetheart, Jacquelyn. It wasn't always easy, but after I learned how to apply a little behavior modification, she & I got along wonderfully.
Each afternoon, weather permitting, we go exploring in a large meadow near the neighborhood. Jacquelyn has recently begun hunting field mice. Five days in a row she has located and successfully flushed the mice out of the ground, but has only caught them twice. She relies too much on her nose, rather than her eyes when the furry creatures make a run for it. I love to watch her hunting technique develop, especially the short leaps and ground stomps.
Jacquelyn too loves to burrow under the covers in my bed. Some mornings she is slow to awaken, but by the time my shoes are tied, she's jumping at the door. I never knew how much love a person could feel for a dog.

Pressed up next to me on the sofa right now is my best friend Zico, a 2 year old Jack Russell. It was my husband's idea to get a JR, I didn't know much about them. Zico was only 5 weeks old when I brought him home and he has pretty much owned me every since. He is the most intelligent, crafty, energetic, silly, loving, begging, whining, happy-go-lucky, leaping-before-looking, pickpocketing, my-side-of-the-bed stealing, paper tearing, food stealing, treat stashing, purse snatching pet I've ever had!!!!!!!!!! Whatever he's done, he knows it's wrong when he's doing it so he immediately gives me the big brown I can't help it eyes and cowers down at my feet. I swear, he knows how to get away with anything! Zico keeps me busy and constantly entertained. The list is endless of the things that he does that make him my favorite companion. I love my Jack Russell Terrier!!!!!!!!!

All of you guys on the Jack Russell ring have some really great sites!!
I had to let my Nyles go live with his grandparents when I got married
last year (apartment living is not good for you little guys!!) and I miss him so
much. It is good to have a place to place to visit and see some of his buddies
which helps cure my dog-gone blues.
Keep up the good work!!

I loved your web page, unfortunately I do not own a JRT as of yet.
I have wanted one for a few years and will now be able to care
for one properley. I am planning on aquiring one this summer and I
have read a few books on the cute rascals and done some other
researh to ensure that I give him the best of everything. As I said
I've done some research, but I would appreciate any information
you could send my way.

Just want to say g'day from Bonnie, my little Jack Russell Terror, er....Terrier. She has complete control over our household, and is one very spoilt and much-loved JRT.
She loves her rubber ball, food, any human lap, walkies, food, her basket, food, warm water gently poured over her back, food. Bonns also wages a constant battle against any bird that dare fly into our garden; she loathes cats and helicopters, horses and the next door neighbour's curtains opening and closing.....

We have always been unsure of Mintie's pedigree, but are
reassured by seeing she is identical to the ones in your pictures. Her brown
back spot is however bigger, which is handy as it is her scratchy patch...
She carries one back leg when she is cruising. Can someone assure me
that this common to the breed. She also understands English. Bye.

I am looking for a JRT. I am a 15 year old, grade 10 student. I have always wanted one, because they're cute and because they are good companions. The things that i need to know are: a) how long can they be left alone without going wild and destroying everything? ... b), Because i'm not home during the day and my father is, will the dog, think that dad is it's owner and not want to follow me around? ... If anyone can help it would be great.

We have four energetic Jack Russells: Rudy, Amber, Lucy, and Gypzee. Rudy and Amber (1+ yrs. old) are brown/white, Gypzee (5 yrs. old) is tri, and Lucy (7 mo. old) is black/white. We have two acres that they run and play in. Not only do they love each other, but they love my two cats too. I've been told I treat them like "little humans". That's because they are! They are wonderful dogs to have and I would not have any other breed! They are a lot of work, but it's worth it.

Our J-R, Zoe, is five years old and the best friend anyone could ever ask for. We can't imagine what life would be without her. She is extremely intelligent and of course as precocious and playful now (as are all JR's) as she was when she was just a pup. However, if you are someone looking into getting a JR as a companion animal--- DO your research well, and make sure you have the type of personality, and, sense of Humour needed to BE a JR owner. We worry that so many people will go out and purchase or breed JR's just because of Wishbone or all of the other Hollywood JR's that are on TV nowadays... and then, when you realize the energy and attention it takes to have these precious pups for a long-term committment... cast them off to a dog pound or a shelter. Make sure you are willing to provide JR's with a safe and happy environment, before you decide to breed or buy. You may save a JR's life! Thanks!

Hi! Our JRT, Spunky, is almost 2 years old, and is the greatest dog in the world. I did my speech at school about her and I got the most applause. She is so much fun. She loves to sleep in my parents' bed and is usually the last one up in the morning. She is also just as happy to go up to my Grandma's house for a sleep-over! We love her so much. I wish we had got her a long time ago. She is white with a tan mask and a perfect brown spot on her back.
I wish everyone could have the fun of owning a JRT, but sorry I already own the world's perfect dog!!!

My six year old JRT, Maxine, lives with my parents. She is by far the best dog we've ever had. If the rest of my family wasn't so attached, we would steal her away in a second. But she's happy at home and only a few minutes away. Therefore we'll let her stay home and visit her every chance we get! Chris and I are looking to adopt out own JRT's, one male and one female, to share our new home with. If anyone knows of any reputable breeders in Connecticut or Rhode Island, please let us know. I am curently looking for a female pup, smooth coat, lots of color, preferably with shorter legs... If you could send me some listings where I could maybe find one in the Midwest or Chicagoland area it would be greatly appreciated.
Also if there is a geneology of the dogs it would make it easier because my family has breed Jacks for many years and we don't want to find one that is related.

Hi fellow jrt-lovers! ...
Wanted to drop a line for my 3 little ones-- Roodie, Reno & Remi! (that's mom, dad & baby). Not only is having a small family of jrts a full-time job, it is a guarantee that you will never have a dull moment!
In about 10 more days, Roodie will be presenting us with a new litter. It's just like Christmas! I can't wait to see each of their little unique faces!
Make SURE you have enough room for these little dynamos to run before you attempt to make one part of your household! My 3 are non-stop terrors, inside or outside! Sometimes I wonder if they ever sleep!
Thanks for putting together a web-site for others who share a passion for the most vital, energetic breed there is. I wouldn't trade my jrts for anything!

We have a 2yr old JRT and he is a trip.Iwas given 4 of these dogs when they were 6wks old. Mine was for my cousin but we had to keep him over night and he's been here ever since. I was not fond of dogs, until I got him and I would'nt take a million dollars for him.His name is Bouncer, because he bounces when he's chasing things. I have a 18mos. old granddaughter that he loves dearly, but he does'nt like other children. He likes to sing and I can say who's the man and he'll start howling. He is the best dog I have ever owned. Four years ago in May, I purchased my first Jack Russell. The queen is named Jezabel. She is the ruler of all of our six dogs. She has been a mother 3 times. 2 litters of Jack Russells and one "oops" with our Patterdale Terrier Henry "The King". She is now "fixed". But I am proud to say that I found wonderful homes for all her children and know where they all live. She receives Christmas cards from them. I of course kept a pup from all the litters. Petey, the first puppy born, Dixie, and Dudley -- "the oops".
My husband is jealous of our relationship because, when I leave the house, she mopes around until I come back. She will not even sleep with him unless I am there. But little does my husband know, that she does exactly the same thing, when HE leaves. Jezabel and her offsprings have been fun and entertaining, but most of all wonderful loving pets, known as "our children".

Little did I KNOW what I was getting into ... a few weeks ago, when I went to the local SPCA to look at a Doberman I saw advertised in the paper ...
Really didn't care for the dog ... and was heading out the door, when I passed the puppy room....
Anyway, I came home with a JRT and Shelty mix of about 10 weeks. I knew nothing about JRTs ... but since I now have a mix thats now 3 and half months old, I'm amazed at the intellengence. Everyone that see's Susie, swears she is pure JRT ... and now that I have seen pictures of them, I too wonder if she's not pure JRT. She is a delight.

I've been subscribing to your catalogue for a couple of year's and only just found that you are online!, glad to see it. My J-R came as a surprize one day... Zack, also known as the Zack Attack, needed a home quickly and a friend steared him in our direction. We were later to find that he had been severly abused, left on his own in a room most of the day , and cig. burns on his ear's. Soon after we got him he began to have seizures on top of every thing else. But, that dog even though the hell he's been throu gives me more love and joy than I could ask for. I hope one to aquire another J-R, so I can have the experience of having a puppy and Zack can a sister or brother.

My wife and I have been looking for another dog. We had the pleasure of having a JRT visit our home for a couple of days. We live on a golf course, and one day he came walking up. Don't no what happened to him. One morning we let him out to do his business ... and he took off. -- I hope, back to his home. We have a 4 year old daughter. I am wondering how well they do with small children? We had a Cocker, which I loved, but he was aggressive to others. The JRT that visited us was GREAT, my daughter loved him, and he was great with her, is the breed normally that good with small children?
I really like your Web Page.

We have a 2 year old JR named Maggie. She thinks she's quite ferocious, but she's not fooling anyone. Her favorite food is peanut butter, and she loves going for rides in the car. I tell my wife that she kind of resmbles a white tube sock that is muddy at one end. Her favorite toy is her "Kong" which she will fetch for hours, if we kept it up that long. She's our "baby" and don't know what we'd do without her. She loves it when we invite friends over because she assumes that they have come over to love on her, scratch her belly and throw her kong to her. Maggie is definitely a lap dog and likes to snuggle with us all the time.

I've signed this guest book previously, but now we have three (yes, that's 3) Jack Russells in our house ... Chelsea and Kelsey are 7 and 6 years old. Good old girls they are. But just before Christmas I saw an all white J-R at a pet store. Thought he was cute, but overpriced. After Christmas he was still at that pet store, but boy had he grown. They reduced his price. I waited two weeks, and checked once more - this time I couldn't leave him there a minute longer...
I couldn't sleep at night, knowing that a Jack Russell was growing up in a pet store window. So anyway, Kodak was 5 1/2 months old when I got him. What a maniac, but I know I did the right thing by giving him a home. We got him housebroken in 2 weeks (thank heavens!), and now, if we can just keep a bottomless pit full of chewies we'll all be just fine! Chelsea and Kelsey don't like Kodak one bit, but they are coping with it because they're such good dogs. Anyone else out there got an all white J-R?

Wow! Great site.
We have had a Jack Russell in our lives now for 6 years...
When we bought our first we didn't even know anyone else who had one. Well, 6 years and 6 russells later, here we are...
We have 3 girls, and 3 boys. Some we bred, some we didn't.We have been to trials, horseshows, other people's houses (much to their shock!), and holidays ... all with our russells in tow! They are a very busy bunch. We would be lost without thier woofs and licks. We hope everyone enjoys Jack Russells like we do.

Hi... I'm the proud owner of a 5mos. old JRT ... Brandy (she's dog#1 on the JRTCA Webpage!) She's my little princess, and I couldn't imagine Life without her. Although JRT's can be difficult to own with a cat, I've been successful in having her, my other dog - Lady, and my cat - Roxie get along like one big happy family. I'd previously owned dobermans, and had recieved Brandy as a surprise gift. I've fallen in love with the breed! Although they may not be everyone's type of dog, they're definitely mine. :)

We have 4 JRT's ...
Junior, Jasper, Jigsaw and Jessie.
They are lots of fun. But, the puppies, Jigsaw 'n Jasper, sometimes get out of hand, fighting. We did not have that trouble with our 2 year olds-- Junior 'n Jessica. Any good hints about breaking up fights and changing this bad habit? Also- anyone found a good JRT plus theme? GREAT site!! It's nice to know so many folks love their JRT's like we do.

Hallo Jasper,
you have a great site of Jack Russell terriers. Since almost 9 years Joeri resides with us. He is the best dog you can imagine. To know more about him, visit my homepage, I have given him a whole page of his own. I would like to come in contact with people who have a JRT bitch and want puppies. Joeri would LOVE to father them, and I would love to own a puppy of him. So if anyone is interested, please write me, I live in The Netherlands!

Hi, (again) ...
my name is Lauren and i own a female jack russell mix (beagle)...
I lost my other dog lady who was a cocker spaniel 3 months ago. Coco is 9 months old. Boy, i didn't realize how fiesty a terrier could be. She is soooooo fiesty. I hope she calms down after a while. My Coco loves to play take long walks. She has to say something while i'm here at the computer...
My name is Coco. I'm 9 months old, i drive my mistress crazy, she's trying to
train me! ... but i don't have a mind of owner, i have a mind of my own... but i'm learning, like whats fun about the training is that i get treats if do well, i already know how to sit, lie down, roll over and give her my paw, nuthin to it, only thing i have to learn is not to bite her hands when i'm playing... i getting tired of that can full of pennies and that disgusting taste of bitter apple that she puts on her hands. she gets angry with me but i'm like only 9 months old, and what do i know. my mommy always praises me when i do good tho, so i'm going to try to be good. anyway my grandpa is ok. he doesn't go for my wildness too much, but he's a good guy though. he lets me lick the dish when he finishes his ice cream. i have to get used to people coming to my house, and that they are not really a threat, just my mommie's friends.... and at night time i like to curl up in her lap after a hard day, ya know, and just take a snooze. well, i have to go- my mom is looking at me, like she wants me to end this now, well hope we can talk to you soon. and, please e-mail
us anytime.
Thanks for this Site, and god bless,
Lauren and Coco (WOOF).

We have a brilliant little JRT called Fred (among other things!). We also had a broken coated JRT, called Frankie, who unfortunately had to be put to sleep nearly 2 years ago. Fred really missed him, even though Frankie always bullied him, so last October we went and got ...... a Springer Spaniel! (My husband likes JRTs, but LOVES Springers!).
So poor old Fred is now completely swamped by this huge, gangly, daft Springer called Jess. Actually they are madly in love - Jessie loves teasing the life out of Fred and Fred loves to run away from her so she can't!
I'd love to hear from anyone else who's also interested in JRTs.

Hello fellow JRT lovers! I've been active in the JRT world for almost 10 years now, but have just entered the world of E-mail and Cyberspace. Amazed at how much JRT stuff is out here! - I just love it! I currently own four adults and one 4-month old puppy. I train for agility and obedience, as well as hunt with my dogs. This breed is so well- rounded that they can work the earth, protect the barns, perform tricks, compete in obedience, run agility courses, and still find time to snuggle! Anyone out there interested in having a JRT pen-pal, please write!

My husband and I have two JRTs, Maxy and Harley. Both have very unique personalities. Both are tri-colored. Maxy is almost all white accept for a small brown and black spot by her eye. She is short haired. Harley has a broken coat and is spotted all over. They are terrific, lovable dogs!

What a blessing our Jack Russell is!! Jake is the Apple of our Eye and a true companion. I am interested in information on two things:
1. A breeder of JRTs in the Northern Ohio/Southern Michigan Area.
2. Anyone who is a breeder who might have some information and tips on how they started up their breeding business.
Thank you!!

Great site! We have a 1st time mother on our hands - named Diva. Our Fox Terrier found her attractive, and now we're not sure WHAT we'll get from our 6 new arrivals. Sarge is a smart dog ... and I haven't met a Jack without a lot of Personality, so they should be special dogs. Has anyone else tried this mix out there? Would like to hear from you, or read it here on the J-R site.

I don't have a Jack Russell yet, but someday I will. Don't remember exactly when I fell in love with JRT's - but, it was somewhere between "Crimson Tide" and Wishbone.
Great page Y'all !

I just discovered your page today! It's great. We have two JRT's --
Nicholas and Alexandria ... both have different personalities. Alex is very outgoing and Nicholas is the shy one. They are from the same kennel, but different litters. They have been together since they were 6 weeks old, and are inseperable! I had owned a dog for since I was a kid (20 years ago) and now they are like my children! My sister got a JRT last Christmas, and is also hooked. Keep up the great work with these webpages!

I hated JRT's ...
until i got my JRT puppy 4 months ago. He was forced upon me, and i was reluctant to take him. But, he is the best behaved puppy, and is growing up to be a "Labrador" (my first choice).

Suzy is our 2 year old Parsons Jack Russell Terrier. She was a surprise Christmas gift to our son. We are interested in having her bred this year. She adores our young son, and is a very welcome addition to our family.

Like the many other people who have signed the guest book, I too love my JRT -- Indiana Bones ... At first, I was going to name him Trouble, because that is what he is always in!... anyway,
My fiance looses his patients with Indy, but I just laugh and say, "He's a Jack! ... and, that's his Nature!" ... Especially when we let him outside, and he chases the squirrells! which in any case is entertaining. My favortie-- is when he plays with grapes.
I once took Indy to see Chuck, my Appendix Quarter Horse ... and Chuck kicked Indy in the leg. I was so upset, but could do nothing, because it was neither one's fault, it just happened. Luckily, Indy is just fine, although he really doesn't care too much for Chuck anymore.
I am so happy that I found this Website! I am planning on acquiring a female Jack to breed, because I love puppies. Sadly, Indy is nuetered, so they can't be His pups, but that is just as well, for if they were anything like him, I would be more exhausted at the end of the day than I already am. I am trying to get my boss to let me bring Indy to work with me, I hate leaving him out of my sight.

Would you please send me some information through the snail mail to: Jason Doolittle 5258 Norwich Ave. Sherman Oaks, Ca. 91411. Thank you for your help anbd assistance in this matter.
