They're a scruffy little bunch, and a motley crew, but we love them all! Two of these six were originally "rescue" dogs - Sparky and Rory "Radar". Sparky came to us on Christmas Eve, 1993, after we responded to a call from a veterinarian in Kingston who had told us that he was going to be "euthanized" (his previous owner had said that it would be alright if the vet did find a home for him). He's the one in the photo above that's missing a leg, which resulted from his being hit by a car when he was with his previous owner. And then there's Rory Radar, another rescue dog (all the way on the right in the photo above). We nicknamed him radar because he's blind in both eyes, but still manages to get around just fine.

Off hand, we've lost count of all the rescue dogs that have found sanctuary here over the years, and who have been mended or were harbored here, and who passed through our hands and touched our lives on their way to new homes that we managed to find for them all. Because of the great popularity of the Jack Russell Terrier, and our years spent building up the Calendars and the JRT products line, Jasper Publications would be a fairly lucrative enterprise -- were it not for the veterinary bills and other expenses incurred by maintaining and pursuing our rescue efforts! But Jasper is a lot more than pretty pictures of Jack Russells. Any owner of a Jack Russell knows how these little devils have a way of insinuating themselves into your lives and into your hearts. Multiply that many times over, and you begin to get the picture of how things are here at Jasper. As an "enterprise" we've sort of gotten the equation backwards: we don't work to live the life we do, we live to do the work we do! And we love doing it. So far this year, we've taken in and found secure homes for more than 30 rescue dogs, and we plan to add a special section to the Jack Russell WebSite specifically dedicated to that aspect. Not pictured above are: Geordie, who is pictured on the cover of the 1997 Jack Russell Terrier Calendar, Vortec (there's a picture of him around here someplace!), and Jimmy, who is actually a guest - one of the current "rescue" dogs who has found a safe refuge here at Jasper.
